#9 - If I wanted to smell you, I'd be a homosexual...

....but I'm don't, and I'm not.

/rant
The guy I work with feels that it is necessary to bring his cologne into work. He leaves it here over night. He does this so that he remembers to spray himself with it. Unfortunately, he sprays himself in the office that we have to share. Now, I'm not against saying a guy smells good if I happen to walk up to a group of people and smell something nice, I might mention something. I am against smelling something that smells like old man. Other than my fear of growing old alone, my greatest fear is smelling like old man (ok, that's a lie). I really despise this guy. Every part of my being wants him to exist elsewhere. He is married...only God knows how, because I've heard the way he talks to her. He still hasn't learned to get up every morning and include spraying your cologne with taking a shower, putting on deodorant or any other mindless chores you do in your morning routine? I just don't understand how you could possibly think that spraying your cologne in an office you share (and complain about frequently) can be considered professional. Not only is it unprofessional, it's inhumane! One last word: Tool.
/endrant

I apologize for using this as a rant playground, but I have to get it out somewheres.

Perhaps there will be a cologne swapping caper in my future.

#8 - Palin gets punk'd

This is kind of humorous.

#7 - A full rich weekend

I had what I like to call a full rich weekend. It started out on Friday night. I was doing a gig for a High school here in town where I video tape their football games and they pay me $75 a home game or $100 for a road game. So that was a quick $75.

On Saturday, I decided I was going to cash my expense check from work and the 2 game checks I had accumulated. After that, I decided to go to Hardee's and get a #8 (look it up). I decided to eat my lunch while talking/watching my parents finish some doors and trim for a room being remodeled. I had one of those conversations with my dad that actually went well. If you know me and my relationship with him, you would know that our conversations usually end in an argument. I love him, but we're just too much alike. So after I finished, he asked me if I wanted to help him work on his car. Again, if you know him, you would know that doesn't happen often. So I spent most of the rest of my day helping him figure out and wire his stereo system. I had a lot of fun and his car is really coming along.

That night, I got to catch up on some TV, which was nice. I'm sometimes too busy playing CoD4 with my brother to be able to watch all of my TV shows.

On Sunday, I got up and went to church. I came home and ate lunch and watched some football. Nothing spectacular happened in the afternoon. I went to church in the evening and came home and watched the Colts game. Poor game management. The only reason we won the game is because the Patriots also had poor game management (thankfully). I can't believe our fans didn't boo the defense off of the field.

This brings me to one of my favorite things about the weekend. Fantasy Football. I was watching the scores all day on Sunday. I knew I was going to win my ESPN league game halfway through the 4 o'clock games. I'm currently in 2nd place in that league, but will be in 1st on Tuesday. I'll have the same record as my brother, but I beat him early in the season so I'll take first place. My head to head Yahoo! league was a little scary at first, but I pulled the victory out. I was in 2nd place in that league too by 1 point. I had played the first place guy but we had the same record. This week I played him and beat him. In my Yahoo! points league, I came from third place, back 30 points to first place by 40 points. It was probably one of the best fantasy weeks I've had.

Well...that has been my weekend...I'd love to hear how everyone's weekend went!

#6 - Pet Peeves, Work, and Holidays

I cannot stand people who don't use proper capitalization. I can understand not capitalizing certain nouns. I understand not capitalizing in chat. I do not understand how someone can call themselves a professional and write an email where the only time they pressed the shift button was for a special character. It infuriates me. Every time I see it, it makes me mad. I've reached a point where when I see it, in my mind, I see myself punching the writer in the face or on bad days worse than that.

I work in Information Technology, more specifically I support (with a few other individuals) approximately 150 users. I write emails to people every day explaining to them how to do something or telling them when I can get to the issue. I don't understand how you can do this every day and never capitalize a single word. More on this later...too many pet peeves to list for me to spend so much time on this one.

-I can't stand people who don't signal lane changes or fail to signal when turning.
-I have a low tolerance for people who can't differentiate the difference between their, there, and they're.
-I don't like when you ask someone the time and they tell you something 5-10 minutes faster than the actual time.
-I automatically judge a person who wears a 'stud' belt and/or 'stud' jewelry. I immediately label them 'Emo' or 'Tool'. (is this a pet peeve about myself or the belt...I don't know either) See: http://www.amazon.com/Black-Double-Pyramid-Studded-Leather/dp/B000FH7TI4
-I dislike it when people complain that they don't have enough time to take a long lunch but will spend over an hour a day smoking in addition to the normal hour lunch we get.

Enough pet peeves for now.

I hate my job. No, maybe that isn't the right way to say it. This is a little sad, but I honestly believe that if the people I work with were fired tomorrow that I would be genuinely happy for myself. One of the guys that I work with goes to school for a degree in some sort of computing and talks the school into giving him 3 degrees because he was in school for so long that he majored in 3 things. The sad thing is he says he 'majored' in programming but couldn't code anything you asked him to. If he weren't a complete tool and wasn't a womanizing pig, I don't think I would have such a problem with it. I guess I understand that people go to school and 'learn' but do their real 'learning' in experience. If he would learn something I wouldn't be complaining, but he has more 'experience' than me (when I say experience, I mean if we were to compare our resumes, he would have a better one simply by the fact that he has a degree even though I have double the on the job experience he has.) He is without a doubt the most unprofessional person I've ever worked with. (crap...it's probably unprofessional that I'm writing this...) He is responsible for multiple pet peeves, I'll let you figure out which ones.

I need to either figure out a way to put him in his place permanently (I've done it before) or find a better job. I won't lie, I need a vacation, I feel my blood pressure rising just from thinking about him.

On to the holidays.

For the first time ever in my life, I won't be spending Christmas with my brother. The first time I heard it I was angry. I won't lie, I couldn't believe how selfish/annoying he was being. How could he possibly choose to stay in Lafayette and not come home to see me, my parents, and our grandparents? Then I found out why he isn't coming. I have to say that I'm still disappointed, but I don't disagree with his decision. I think it is great that he's doing something for God on Christmas. Woo-hoo...yeah that is about as enthusiastic my selfish self can get. Who knows? Maybe I'll see him the day after Christmas....

...it won't be the same.

#5 - I believe I'm losing my faith...

...in the Indianapolis Colts staff. They are making TERRIBLE calls.

What I'm going to say in the rest of this post will probably be considered radical and over the edge. Just a warning to all you Colts fans who can't take criticism from a fellow Colts fan.

I cannot sit here and say that I have complete faith in them the way I could a few years ago. It is time to cleanse. Time to purge what is bad and start fresh.

They aren't making the correct play calls. They run on a throwing down and throw on a running down. Tony Dungy is on his way out. Thankfully. He's been a great coach and I'm sure an even better mentor, but he's lost it. He doesn't have that edge anymore.

Jim Caldwell cannot become head coach. He can't! He doesn't have the personnel to put him in the position to win. We don't have the personnel to put us in the position to win.

I had a friend tell me that he thought Dungy and Moore needed to go. I would disagree with that. I think Moore stays. He stays because his quarterback needs him. It is said that Tom Moore gives Manning a set of 3-4 plays to choose from on each down. That has to stop. It is clear that Manning can't choose the appropriate plays. We need someone who he trusts to go out and tell him what plays to call. That person is Tom Moore. They have the rapport to tell each other what the play should be and it is time to alter that rapport so that it is a more traditional offense. If Manning can't handle that, shop him. Period. If they continue with this poor play calling after Moore is actually calling the shots then kick him to the road.

I'm fed up with our defensive personnel. They're small and fast. I used to believe in that. I used to think that we could compete with small and fast. It has become apparent that we can't. I'm not saying get of everyone on the defense. I'm simply saying that all those players we spent so much money on keeping (i.e. Dwight Freeney) have to start producing or start looking for a job. Our front 4 are too small to compete in this league. We play the well known 'Tampa 2' coverage defense. I'm not opposed to this coverage, but Tampa Bay does it a little differently than we do. They have the personnel to do it. Our defensive line is (on average) 25 lbs. lighter than Tampa Bay's. We only have 1 D-lineman over 300lbs. and none over 6' 5''. We do not have the d-line to allow the coverage behind them to be Tampa 2.

I watch year after year as our draft priority is offensive when clearly our needs are on the defensive side of the ball. I'm not saying I'm unhappy with the players that we've drafted, but I can't say I'm 100% satisfied.

I hate the fact that I'm going to have to watch as (arguably) the greatest quarterback in league history gets older and older without winning another ring. I can't stand the idea of watching a team that isn't as competitive as they could be. Our front office is as good as there is in the league but we've been blinded with bad personnel choices/influences by the coaches for too long. It's time to open our eyes and start making changes. Draft a quarterback in the next few years. If Peyton is around, he can learn so much from him.

All I'm saying is something has to change.

It's about time.

#4 - Fantastic

I was in church this morning and heard something that I really liked. I want to share it with you.

Your past does not disqualify you from God's purposes for you.

Simple, and powerful.

Think about it.

#3 - Meh

I've been so busy lately with work that I haven't posted in 2 weeks!

I can't decide what I want this to turn out to be. I'm a naturally funny person (i think) and I like to keep things light. That said, I love to go deep with things. I'd probably take stimulating conversation over humor 4/5 times. I just don't know what to say. This 'Wicked Awesome Life' thing will probably die out soon. Just a warning.

I spent the last two hours trying to find something clever to put here. I got nothing.

#2 - Career change?

If you could become anything, have any job, what would it be?

Money isn't an object and neither is your ability to learn. Retirement also isn't a choice.

#1 - The Mecca for White Trash

I'm from a relatively small town in Indiana and I've seen my fair share of 'white trash'.

White Trash - Slang term for white people that usually live in a trailer park. With low incomes that spend their tax returns on things like big screen TV's instead of clothes for their kids. These people tend to be mouthy and fight frequently. Generally these people are uneducated and have little concern for personal hygiene. To see these people at their best watch Jerry Springer.

What happened on Jerry Springer today? Oh, the usual. Some White trash ho beat down her white trash boo because he was getting freaky wid the white trash neighbor who is married to her father.

I'm proud to say that I don't consider myself white trash though others may disagree. If I had to associate with a slang phrase describing my social/economical/cultural stature, it would be either redneck, cracker or some mix of the two. Possibly redker or crackneck, maybe even redcrackerneck.

Practically everyone in America knows what Wal-Mart is and how fantastically cheap the place can be. What some people don't realize, probably the people who I'm writing about, is that it is also a Mecca/lair/haven/retreat/sanctum/den/hotbed for
white trash.

Now, please don't take this as I don't like the glorious blue seedbed with the fast food restaurant so conveniently located inside. I do. You simply get competitive prices and a ton of variety.

Unfortunately, for them, their biggest upside is also their greatest downside. It attracts the very people described above.

I used to complain that their aisles were too cramped and there were far to many people there and would just go to K-Mart instead. Now, they've put in a supercenter in my area and that no longer applies. Well...the aisles part no longer applies. There are still too many people with not enough open checkout lanes.

Every time I have gone there, I've seen no less than 3 White Trashers (WTers) in the parking lot, 4 WTers in the checkout and a plethora of WTers throughout the store.

It's like a landfill for the people who choose not to take care of themselves even though they have the means to. The really messed up part is that they pull themselves out of this by buying the correct items from Wal-Mart but as the definition said, they buy the Big Screen TV. Sigh.

I realize this has been kind of a rant, but I couldn't think of anything better to write for my first one about than the store that I love to hate.

Where would our world be without this place?
